Original vs. virgin vs. immo off: which file do you need?
Replacing an ECU, recovering from a bad flash or fixing a lost key each call for a different file. A quick decision guide.
Original dump
An untouched factory read. Use it to recover a corrupted ECU, revert a remap, or as a clean starting point for your own calibration.
Virgin
A used ECU's EEPROM reset to factory state, so it can be adapted to a different vehicle with diagnostic equipment. Ideal when you source a second-hand unit.
Immo off
The immobilizer function is disabled in the engine ECU. Typically used where the original immobilizer system cannot be repaired. Always check local regulations.
Quick decision table
| Situation | File |
|---|---|
| ECU bricked after a failed write | Original |
| Fitting a used ECU from another car | Virgin |
| Immobilizer module is missing or damaged | Immo off |
| Performance upgrade | Stage 1 |
