Checksums explained: why a modified file must be corrected
Every ECU validates its software with checksums. Learn why all ECUDOCK files are delivered checksum-corrected and ready to write.
What is a checksum?
A checksum is a small value calculated from a block of data. The ECU recalculates it at start-up; if it does not match, the software is treated as corrupted.
Do I need to correct it?
Every modified file sold on ECUDOCK is delivered with checksums already corrected. Most master tools also correct checksums automatically on write — leave that option enabled.
Verify your download
Each product page lists the file SHA-256 fingerprint. Compare it after download to make sure the file is byte-for-byte what we published.
